My presentation focuses on the day-to-day work of being a writer. I share stories about my family and my life, explaining how these are the sources for my writing ideas. Because school visits offer me a chance to be in touch with my reading audience, I love the opportunity to be in the classroom. As a former teacher, I especially enjoy leading small writing workshops where children explore the five ways to begin a story. By working closely with teacher and staff, I hope that my day at your school will be both entertaining and instructive.
